We all know that the cryptocurrency world is a very confusing and difficult place to understand for most of the people. But which is one of the main discussed topics among South Africans? Well, this is data.
BlockMesh and Mobile Data
There are different projects in the market about data, but BlockMesh has a different approach. It wants to make mobile data free. The company is working with the latest innovations in mesh networking technology with the intention to ‘create cost-free communication networks.’ The main goal of the company is to disrupt the communications industry, which is not an easy or simple task to accomplish.
BlockMesh has been created by a South African team that knows which are the problems in their country. They believe that South Africa’s poverty and high data prices are the main reasons behind the limited growth.
Bjorn Guido, the founder of BlockMesh, said about the service:
“We harness the power of the Internet of Things to provide interpersonal communication which isn’t just free to use, but actually rewards users in cryptocurrency to use it. Our network will be made up of the excess bandwidth that exists across the world.”
And of course, it is too good to be true to hear that it would be possible to use the internet without using mobile data, but technology is changing the way we conceive everything. Mesh technology is a telecommunications system that is able to work outside of regular cellular tower range due to the peer to peer mesh network that it enables. The network created by the company is powered by Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (in case it is available).
“This will allow your smart television, your Wi-Fi router, iPad – basically anything that has internet connectivity – to form part of our global revolution. Instead of your data being an expense it becomes an asset by earning you extra money,” explained Mr. Bjorn Guido. The firm ended its fundraising operations back in February 2018 and has already launched early versions of their chat and wallet apps on the Google Play Store. Moreover, the firm is working on the final stages of developing a product known as “Kerying booster.”
The flash drive size device may be able to extend the smartphone range from 150 meters to 15km, 100 times more. An impressive result. At the moment, the BMH token is listed on HitBTC and IDEX.
The company wrote on its website about its product:
“All data sent through our network will be absolutely cost-free. Our goal is to become the leaders in mesh technology by reinvesting in the technology and creating a platform where any developer can take advantage of our network with our simple open source API.”
South Africa is home to notable startups. It has a very active cryptocurrency community and great teams working with blockchain and distributed ledger technology. BlockMesh is another company that is working in order to improve the life of an important number of individuals all over the world.
